The sixth annual Loveland Connect will take place on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 8:00am to 12:00pm at Truscott Elementary, located at 211 West 6th Street. This event is based on the national best practice model called Project Homeless Connect that has been replicated in over 260 communities across the country.

More than forty services in one location will be offered for the homeless or near homeless at the Loveland Connect event. The services provided are a symbol of the community coming together to send a message about assisting those who are most vulnerable.

This event also provides a rare and important opportunity for volunteers to interact with Loveland citizens who are facing homelessness or may be close to becoming homeless. Event guests are paired with a volunteer. The goal of the pairing is to have the volunteer guide the guest through the event, starting with a shared meal, and accessing services that could make a difference for the guest, such as gathering information about housing, accessing dental care or medical health screenings, bike repair, or a haircut. The support of the volunteer creates a powerful connection and gives a personal story to those who are facing homelessness.

We hope that you will join us as a volunteer and assist those who need it most. To register, please fill out the attached volunteer form and return it to the Community Partnership Office at 500 E. Third Street, Suite 210 or register online at http://honservice.org/loveland-connect/.

Denver Rescue Mission

Mentor

Mentor a program participant from Harvest Farm, a long-term addiction recovery program located in Wellington. Commitment is 6-12 months and we ask that you meet with your mentee at least twice a month. Full interview and screening process, including a background check, is required for this position.

The Murphy Center for Hope and Homeless Gear are looking for community members interested in becoming Housing First Advocates for a brand new program, designed to help people experiencing homelessness in our community find affordable housing and gain self-sufficiency.

Volunteer teams of two will work with our Housing First Initiative Director, in conjunction with the person in need of housing, to create an "Action Plan." Volunteers will help with a "Hands-on Housing Search"- including internet searches for available housing, phone calls to potential landlords, assistance in obtaining necessary documents, and will provide encouragement and support to the person as they navigate the path to self-sufficiency.

Comprehensive training is provided, and Volunteers are backed-up at all times by the Housing First Initiative Director. Hours are flexible and would be approximately 1-5 hour per week, depending on your schedule.

This is a wonderful opportunity to provide tangible, effective assistance to some our community's most vulnerable members, with long-lasting results. If you would like to be a part of this exciting and innovative project, please contact us. Training begins in mid-July, with additional opportunities throughout the year.

We are looking of a group of energetic and creative volunteers to host a Gear Drive to benefit Homeless Gear's Street Outreach program and the Murphy Center's Gear Room. Volunteers will plan and execute a Gear Drive at a business/group of their choice (workplace, store, church, school, etc) including marketing, creating collection bins, collecting donations, sorting, and bringing them to the Homeless Gear's warehouse. A complete list of the items we distribute can be found here: http://homelessgear.org/needs/. However, often groups focus on just one or two items- such as socks and gloves.

The exterior of the building at the Girls Residential Home needs to be repainted. This is a two story facility so there will be some use of ladders and scaffolding to paint the upper level. If time allows, carpeting will also be torn out in the family room in the home and will be replaced with laminate.

Although this is scheduled as an all day project from 9:00am - 5pm, please sign up even if you can only join for part of the day!
