Volunteer with Junior Achievement!
The mission of Junior Achievement (JA) is to prepare young people to thrive in the 21st century workplace by providing FREE volunteer taught programs to over 15,000 students just in Northern Colorado & Wyoming each year. JA volunteers come from all walks of life, but they all have a common vision: sharing a message of hope and opportunity with each and every young person they reach. They lead by example, giving real-world meaning to JA's curriculum and helping students become more optimistic about school, work and life.

Volunteering with JA is easy! JA staff assign each volunteer to one K-12th grade classroom to present JA's innovative, hands on curriculum. Each first-time volunteer is provided with a 45-minute training, as well as all of the supplies and talking points to be successful in the classroom. Time commitment varies from one 30-45 minute lesson per week for five weeks, to one day of teaching.

What topics would you cover with your classroom of students as a volunteer? JA volunteers help students plan for their future by introducing them to concepts such as taxes, budgeting, careers, entrepreneurship, stocks, skills, STEM jobs, decision-making, city zones, ethics, and SO much more.

If you believe in their future, so will they!

In observation of the signing of the act that preserves the Cache la Poudre and other rivers in the U.S. "in a free-flowing condition for the enjoyment of present and future generations" the Mishawaka will present a day of river education, preservation, restoration and celebration in partnership with the Coalition for the Poudre Watershed (CPRW), U.S. Forest Service Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests, and Wildlands Restoration Volunteers (WRV).

Volunteers will have the choice of three concurrent opportunities in the morning to help restore, protect, and learn about important areas in the Wild and Scenic corridor. Volunteers can help plant ponderosa saplings on private land burned in the High Park Fire, or help maintain a post-fire/flood restoration project at Skin Gulch, located off Highway 14 along Stove Prairie Road, by assisting with weed control and litter removal. Volunteers can also sign up to hike Young Gulch Trail, which was severely damaged during the 2012 High Park Fire and 2013 floods and remains closed to this day. Self-guided hiking tours with educational talks will give participants the opportunity to learn about restoration and reconstruction work at the site.

Golf Tournament Benefiting The Matthews House
Golf Tournament Benefiting The Matthews House
The Matthews House is a 501(c)(3) organization that empowers young adults and families in transition to navigate difficulties on the road to self-sufficiency. Many of the individuals in our program are or have been part of the human services, foster care, and/or justice system. Many have also lived in generational poverty. They frequently do not have a significant support system nor the skills necessary for living independently, including retaining a job, solving problems, managing money, and building solid relationships.

We're the sole beneficiary of the Annual Dohn Construction Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, September 28 at Southridge Gold Course. The tournament is sold out (golfers, sponsorships, etc.) and should be an awesome event! As of now, we know we need about ten volunteers from 11:30-6:00
