The mission of Junior Achievement (JA) is to prepare young people to thrive in the 21st century workplace by providing FREE volunteer taught programs to over 15,000 students just in Northern Colorado & Wyoming each year. JA volunteers come from all walks of life, but they all have a common vision: sharing a message of hope and opportunity with each and every young person they reach. They lead by example, giving real-world meaning to JA's curriculum and helping students become more optimistic about school, work and life.

Volunteering with JA is easy! JA staff assign each volunteer to one K-12th grade classroom to present JA's innovative, hands on curriculum. Each first-time volunteer is provided with a 45-minute training, as well as all of the supplies and talking points to be successful in the classroom. Time commitment varies from one 30-45 minute lesson per week for five weeks, to one day of teaching.

What topics would you cover with your classroom of students as a volunteer? JA volunteers help students plan for their future by introducing them to concepts such as taxes, budgeting, careers, entrepreneurship, stocks, skills, STEM jobs, decision-making, city zones, ethics, and SO much more.

If you believe in their future, so will they!

Service Saturday! Spring Yard Cleanup and Celebration at New Belgium Brewing
A Little Help is a grassroots non-profit organization whose mission is connecting neighbors to help seniors thrive! We launched in Northern Colorado last year, and we are excited to be working with United Way to make a difference in Fort Collins and Berthoud!

For this event, volunteers of all ages will meet at Edora Park, near the tennis courts at the SW entrance, off E. Stuart St. Registration, coffee and sweet treats begin at 8:00am on Saturday, May 4. After introductions and instruction, we will be divided into teams. Each team will be given the names/addresses of home owners requesting assistance with yard clean up, raking, and/or outside window washing (first floor). Work should be completed by 12:00pm.

At noon, all participants are invited to join A Little Celebration at New Belgium Brewing (500 Linden St, Fort Collins, CO 80524) for food, drinks, music and fun! New Belgium is providing a free pint to Service Saturday volunteers, and we will provide soft drinks and snacks.

Enrich Your World. Volunteer your time and talent at Hearts & Horses. Volunteers drive the Hearts & Horses program and are indispensable at all levels of the organization. Hearts & Horses believes that every volunteer contribution is immeasurable in it?s worth and value for our organization and, ultimately, our riders. No matter what job you choose to volunteer for at Hearts & Horses, you are an integral part of the team and are greatly valued. Some volunteers bring skills in horsemanship, others bring leadership skills, and others bring understanding and acceptance in helping others to seek fuller, more satisfying lives. Volunteers also bring many new ideas and insight to the program and frequently enlist their friends! Ask any Hearts & Horses volunteer and they will readily state that they gain as much, or more, than they give.

Join us as we go over the different kinds of volunteer roles, how to get into training, what schedules look like, and wrapping up with a tour of the property!
